Crossing the Wall: Endoscopic Full Thickness Resection

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will discuss developments in full thickness resection techniques for a variety of GI neoplasms including early mucosal neoplasms as well as submucosal lesions. Devices that are critical to performing these techniques, such as tools and methods for closure, training for such methods, and development of lab and animal models will also be presented. The feasibility and obstacles to application of these techniques in GI practice will be discussed in a panel format.
 
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Review full thickness resection (FTR) techniques for early mucosal neoplasms and submucosal lesions
2. Review closure methods and devices and their application within FTR
3. Describe current methods for training in FTR as well as the role of animal labs in device and technique development
4. Review feasibility and challenges of adopting FTR techniques into GI practice
