PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
New therapies that are less invasive than surgery and more effective than medication or lifestyle modification are needed to contend with the current obesity epidemic. This program will highlight advances in bariatric endoscopy, a new digestive subspecialty, and the emerging role of the gastroenterologist in managing metabolic disease. Leaders and innovators in the new field will discuss available endoscopic bariatric therapies (EBT), the pros and cons of these procedure as metabolic therapies, and exciting new developments.

1. Describe currently available endoscopic bariatric procedures 
2. Identify the different mechanisms through which EBT can impact metabolic disease
3. Recognize the role of emerging small bowel EBT in diabetes and other metabolic conditions
