2019 NYSGE SEMINAR SERIES

This activity is jointly provided by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
and the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Utilizing poor technique or poorly performing equipment, and inappropriately choosing resection techniques can lead to incomplete polypectomy. An incomplete understanding of current colorectal cancer screening guidelines, tools, surveillance intervals and the propensity for certain populations to develop colorectal cancer can lead to missed detection opportunities. This course will help gastroenterologists to recognize and navigate the difficulties of optimal colorectal cancer screening methodologies, to recognize the growing rate of early-onset colorectal cancer, to identify correct techniques for polypectomy, and to manage the difficult polypectomy.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Identify the newest guidelines, technologies and surveillance intervals for colorectal cancer
  • Recognize the prevalence of early-onset colorectal cancer
  • Characterize different types of polyps and their importance
  • Explain the effectiveness of endoscopic resection of mucosal tumors
  • Recognize the latest techniques for difficulty polypectomy
