Course Description
Autoimmune Pancreatitis is a rare form of pancreatitis caused by autoimmune mechanisms, many of which are not yet fully understood. This lecture will review the basics of autoimmune pancreatitis including categorization into Type I and Type II disease and the unique clinical and histopathologic manifestations of each subtype. Treatment options for autoimmune pancreatitis, maintenance therapy, and relapse therapy will also be explored.
Learning Objectives
- Review IgG4-related diseases
- Describe clinical presentation of autoimmune pancreatitis
- Review diagnostic criteria of autoimmune pancreatitis (HISORT, ICDC)
- Define differences between Type I and Type II autoimmune pancreatitis including demographics, pathology and histopathology, serum, other organ involvement and association with IBD
- Discuss treatment options for both maintenance and relapse
