NYSGE | New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

NYSGE Mini-Camps

Advanced Endoscopy

Program Mission
  • To provide an opportunity for second year GI fellows to gain exposure to various advanced endoscopy procedures at a variety of institutions around the greater New York area
  • To foster an environment that allows for future mentorship in GI endoscopy among program participants and host institutions
Guidelines
  • Priority will be given to second year GI fellows from programs not having a large advanced endoscopy practice, although all interested fellows are encouraged to apply.
  • This is an opportunity to learn, not an interview or opportunity to interview.

Candidates
Second year GI fellows who are contemplating a career in advanced endoscopy are invited to apply. First and third year GI fellows are also eligible, but preference will be given to second year fellows in programs where there is little early exposure to advanced endoscopy or programs without a large advanced endoscopy practice.

Week at a Glance
Pairs of GI fellows are selected and participate together during the same week, spending one day at each of five different institutions, rotating to each designated location day-to-day.

Each institution hosts two GI fellows on each day of agreed participation. The institution is responsible for planning the day’s experience, but it is expected that participants will be able to observe advanced endoscopy procedures and engage in conversation about the cases and advanced endoscopy with all levels of staff.

Application and Selection Procedures
  • A call for applicants will be sent by eblast to NYSGE members
  • The application deadline is October 19, 2018
  • All applicants must be trainee members of NYSGE (trainee membership is complimentary, but an application is required)
  • The Advanced Endoscopy Physician Administrator will review applications and select participants
  • Participating fellows will receive a schedule showing the institutions, contact names, and time to report for each day of the program
